Hello and welcome to Pencils and Papers, a new website and blog for my hand-drawn art, quilled art and notecards! Yes, Pencils and Papers is brand new, and I’m eager to share my colored pencil art and more with you.

Who is Pencils and Papers?

 It’s me! My name is Ellen, and I love to draw with colored pencils and make things with paper. You might call me a “late bloomer”, lol. After retiring from a 30-year telecommunications career, I started playing with colored pencil art. It turns out that I love it! So, hang on and over time, I will share more and more art with you.

Ok, to keep this short, I am:

• A mom of two kids who are now adults.

• A widow.

• Retired.

• A Christian who is a Child of God.

• I love dogs!

• I have a Cocker Spaniel (I will introduce him in my next post).

There! Enough about me. Let’s move on to art.

Do you prefer colored pencil art or paper quilled art?

Do you like quirky, informal art that’s full of originality and fun? If so, you will enjoy following me on this blog, and maybe you will even share your thoughts with me. You will find landscape, seascape, animals, and flowers among my colored pencil art drawings. And hopefully, you will find them of interest!

Since I live near the beach, many people like drawings that relate to the ocean. I have only lived here for two years, so ocean-themed art is new for me, but I’m having a blast with it! Right now, the choices are limited, but you will find much more as time goes on. Remember, you are here on Day 1!

Besides colored pencils, I enjoy quilling. Are you familiar with quilling? If not, don’t worry! I will do a post very soon to show you some of my work and explain what it is. But for now, it is creating designs with strips of paper….. hence Pencils and Papers.
